Purpose Community Family Dispute Resolution (Community FDR) is a limited reduced-fee service offered by Hannah Hopkinson Family Mediation to improve access to parenting mediation for eligible families experiencing financial hardship. Community FDR is a private-practice initiative. It is not government funded and is subject to practitioner availability, eligibility and suitability for Family Dispute Resolution. Payment, cancellations and refunds Fees must be paid before the relevant appointment. Appointments cancelled or rescheduled with less than 48 hours’ notice are non-refundable, except where the practitioner determines that exceptional circumstances justify a different outcome. Payment does not guarantee that mediation will proceed, that an agreement will be reached or that a particular section 60I certificate will be issued. Agreements and legal advice Where agreement is reached, the practitioner may assist participants to document their agreed parenting arrangements in a parenting plan or written summary. Participants are encouraged to obtain independent legal advice before, during or after the FDR process. The practitioner does not provide legal advice. Confidentiality Family Dispute Resolution is confidential, subject to the Family Law Act 1975, the Family Law (Family Dispute Resolution Practitioners) Regulations 2025 and applicable exceptions. Participants will receive information about confidentiality and the circumstances in which disclosure may be required or permitted before FDR begins. Section 60I certificates For parenting disputes, a section 60I certificate may be issued where legally authorised and professionally appropriate. Participation in Community FDR does not create an automatic entitlement to a particular certificate. The practitioner will exercise independent professional judgment and comply with the applicable legislative requirements.
